Greek Rightsholders Association EDEM announces licensing agreement with Meta
Meta and EDEM Rightsholders Association reached a multi- platform licensing agreement.
September 2023 – Meta, the global company that operates Facebook and Instagram, struck a licensing deal with rightsholders’ cooperative EDEM for the use of music on its platforms.
The multi-platform agreement licenses the full repertoire of EDEM and allows users in Greece to include music in user-generated content and add music from Meta’s catalogue of licensed works to their reels, stories and other content. EDEM’s partnership with Meta includes a revenue sharing component, giving opportunities for creators and music rightsholders to monetise and earn royalties from eligible creator content.
With the roll-out of Meta music features in Greece, users can enhance their Facebook and Instagram experiences with music, by including the newest releases, regional, and classic hits. This licensing agreement will deliver greater value to EDEM’s songwriter and publisher members and enable people to include music in the moments they share on Facebook and Instagram.
With this agreement, EDEM fulfils its commitment to adhere to global music industry best practices and together, EDEM and Meta cooperate to respect the copyrights of rights holders.
