About EDEM

EDEM is a non-profit organization for Collective Management and Protection of Intellectual Property Rights on Musical Works. Being a member of the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC), EDEM is committed to operating in accordance with international professional rules and standards.

Starting its operation in 2020, EDEM’s mission is to support and enhance that central core of creativity and expression, by offering high quality rights management services to creators and rightsholders.

At EDEM, we believe that ensuring fair remuneration for music creators is crucial for supporting music creation. Therefore, we observe closely all local and international developments concerning collective management to maximize our members income within a framework of cooperation and mutual understanding with music users.  We operate to provide reliable solutions in the most transparent and efficient way; we apply best practices and utilize advanced technological tools for the collection and distribution of royalties.

We also believe that the role of a Collective Management organization should not be limited only to collection activity. We encourage and support music creativity through a variety of cultural and social initiatives such us:

  • Organizing events and training online programs (webinars)in collaborations with other entities (e.g., Megaron Concert Hall, National Centre for Scientific Research Demokritos, Municipality of Athens, Athens Music Festival etc.)
  • Ensuring sponsorships for the Solidarity and Support Fund for Greek Music Creation
  • Offering Group Insurance Plan for EDEM Members
  • Creating an Occupational Insurance Fund (EOF) for EDEM Members

 

EDEM’s represented repertoire

EDEM represents over 3,400 music creators and rightsholders of musical works, including the majority of the Greek rightsholders, as well as many foreign musical works through representation by Greek sub-publishers. To expand its representation outside Greek borders, EDEM has concluded representation agreements with foreign Societies of authors and composers.

Music licensing

EDEM provides licenses for the following uses of its represented music repertoire:

  • Public Performance
  • Radio/TV Broadcasting
  • Concerts
  • Mechanical reproduction
  • Online interactive and non-interactive use of music
  • Use of music in cinema films, advertisements, etc. (Synchronization)

Private Copy

EDEM collects for its members the right to fair remuneration from the reproduction of works for private use.
