A successful conclusion to a series of briefing and negotiation meetings between edem rightsholders cooperative and representatives of the association of greek private television channels with nationwide coverage, signing off on all intellectual property rights dues for 2019
As per an earlier announcement during EDEM members’ recent General Assembly, a deal has been achieved with all Association members: ALPHA, ANTENNA, ΜΑΚΕDΟΝΙΑ, OPEN TV, SΚΑΙ & STAR. The popular TV stations have already submitted comprehensive broadcast programs for 2019 so the relevant EDEM departments can sort and identify rightsholders’ repertoire, including former members of the transitional organization EYED. Partial property rights payments for use of said repertoire have already been advanced.
EDEM’s agreement with the TV channels has taken place under uniquely difficult circumstances in order to secure substantial income for their rightsholders from the use of their musical works in television programs. It is crucial that music users recognize and appreciate the value of intellectual property by respecting creators and rightsholders.
EDEM continues its administrative work to protect the intellectual property of its members with a sense of responsibility toward rightsholders, as well as mutual understanding and cooperation with music users.
